Gino Paoli’s debut album – Gino Paoli was released in Italy on October 8, 1961 on Dischi Ricordi. Il cielo in una stanza" success was followed by "Sapore di sale" (1963), arranged by Ennio Morricone and believed to be his most famous song. In the same year he attempted suicide by shooting himself in the heart (the bullet is still inside his chest). Una lunga storia (2004). Ti ricordi? No non mi ricordo (2004). Gino Paoli & Arsen Dedic u Lisinskom (2005).
Gino Paoli (born 23 September 1934) is an Italian singer-songwriter. Paoli was born in Monfalcone, but moved very early to Genoa. After several different jobs, he was called by Ricordi with his friends Luigi Tenco and Bruno Lauzi. His first success was the single "La gatta". This was followed by "Sapore di sale", arranged by Ennio Morricone. In the same year he attempted suicide by shooting at his heart, but he survived. In 1974 he returned with the LP I semafori rossi non sono Dio, followed by Il mio mestiere (1977).
Gino was the son of the Marquis Pier Roberto Capponi, a nobleman greatly attached to the reigning grand duke of Tuscany, Ferdinand III and also son of Maria Madalena Frescobaldi Capponi, foundress of the Passionist Sisters. When that prince was deposed by the French in 1799 the Capponi family followed him into exile at Vienna, where they remained until he exchanged his rights to the grand duchy for a German principality (1803). The Capponi then returned to Florence, and in 1811 Gino married the marchesina Giulia Vernaccia
Gino is usually called Gino di Neri Capponi il Vecchio or il Seniore. Since Gino and Neri were ever-recurring surnames of the Capponi family, most of the Capponi who were not Gino di Neri were Neri di Gino. 3 Even Gino Capponi, proud as he was of his ancestor, failed to recognize the value of the Ricordi. In fact Tommaseo,, Dizionario delta Lingua Italiana, Torino, UTET 1929, Vol. III, page 241, quotes the XIX century Gino Capponi's Proverbi Totcani as the proverb vivano foggette e muoiano le berrette (death to the hoods and long live the caps), adding that it was in Florence the war.
