New York 1929-1930 Vol. 2. Jimmy Dorsey. The Rhythmic Eight - 48 of the Best 48: 1927-1930. Up and at 'em - The Hottest of the California Ramblers on Edison. Wilton Crawley's clarinet playing is undoubtedly bizarre, but if you have an ear for comedy, this will not fail to amuse you as he snickers, titters, squawks and slap-tongues his way through his repertoire. Undoubtedly a genius in his own peculiar idiom, although perhaps best taken occasionally in small doses. The musical content is beefed up with the presence of such jazz greats as Eddie Lang, Henry 'Red' Allen and Jelly Roll Morton.
