Barbara Gaskin (born 5 June 1950) is a British singer formerly associated with the UK Canterbury scene. Gaskin was lead vocalist in British folk-prog band Spirogyra (1969–1974). From 1973 to 1976 she sang backing vocals with Dave Stewart's band Hatfield and the North, as one third of 'The Northettes' (with Ann Rosenthal and Amanda Parsons, both since retired from music)

8 : rough demo recording from June 1986 9 : 1991 remix of the original song recorded in November 1984 for the album Up From The Dark (also on As Far As Dreams Can Go) 10 : completely new version, recorded 1996, of the song originaly released as the B side of the 1984 single I'm In A Different World

Making The TLG Collection a welcome release. Originally sold briefly in Japan during a 2001 tour, it's a great introduction for those new to Stewart & Gaskin's "pop music for adults" and a collectible for existing fans who missed the chance to grab its original release. With Green and Blue a first step towards fuller reconciliation between Stewart's progressive roots and later pop proclivities, The TLG Collection is a strong addition to the Stewart & Gaskin discography, and an interim appetite whetter for more new music from one of Canterbury's most important figures.

Shortly thereafter, Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin released another album, The Big Idea, followed by Spin in 1991. The music on those three albums is quite diverse. In fact, because Stewart & Gaskin had accumulated more new music than would fit on a single CD, they simultaneously released a five-track EP called Hour Moon with the remaining songs (including the Soundpage version of Henry and James I’d fallen in love with back in 1985), followed several months later by the 14-track The TLG Collection, featuring rare. Apparently Stewart & Gaskin felt that collection of music should be enough to last fans for quite a while, because more than seven additional years would pass before their next offering. In January 2019, the duo released another full-length studio album, Star Clocks.

Notes

Digipak with 12-page booklet

From the liner notes : "This collection of 14 rare studio recordings, demos, bonus tracks, extended mixes, alternative versions and TV soundtrack songs spanning the 1983 - 2001 period was originally compiled in August 2001 [...] before we played at the Tribute To The Love Generation club in Tokyo. We wanted to give our audience there something to remember the shows by [...]. The original CD (grandly titled 'TLG Commemorative CD') was a strictly limited edition for TLG concertgoers only. Barabara and I enjoyed its content so much that we both felt it should receive a wider audience."
