It was this symphony the Russian government cited when Shostakovich was censured. The liner notes of this album don't do all they could to elucidate this history and all its intricacies. The recording itself is also historically significant. Conductor Yevgeny Mravinsky not only gave the premiere of the symphony, but was the only conductor to receive a dedication on one of Shostakovich's symphonies

Conductor – Yevgeny Mravinsky. Orchestra – Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra. Remastered By – Paul Arden-Taylor. 모. Recorded: Live, 27 or 28 March 1982; Large Hall of the Leningrad Philharmonic, Leningrad. Notes in English by James Murray (2011). Licensed from: the notes in the back cover of the booklet (see image) says: "Licensed from Leningrad Philharmonic via A-Tempo, Prague". This recording is the last one by Mravinsky of this symphony that he had himself premièred with the same Orchestra in 1947 and was dedicated to him by the composer.

Album · 2011 · 5 Songs. Symphony No. 8 in C Minor, Op. 65: V. Allegretto. 5 Songs, 1 Hour 1 Minute. Released: Oct 11, 2011. 2011 Musical Concepts. More By Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra.

Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975). 8 in C minor O. 5. Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra Evgeni Mravinsky (1982 version). Disc: 1. 1. 65 (Stalingrad): I. Adagio. 2. 65 (Stalingrad): II. 3. 65 (Stalingrad): III. Allegro non troppo. 4. 65 (Stalingrad): IV. Largo. While great Shostakovich 8s are all over the place, this one holds special allure for collectors since Mravinsky conducted the premiere, was close to the conductor even though they had differences, and his no nonsense temperament fits the bitterness of the music so well. For the uninitiated, Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-75) was the premier Soviet composer and one of the greatest composers of the 20th or any other century.

Symphony No. 65. Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra & Yevgeny Mravinsky. Shostakovich: Symphony No. 8. 25:16. 02. 06:21. 03. 06:25. 04. 09:52.

This album has an average beat per minute of BPM (slowest/fastest tempos:, BPM). Tracklist Symphony No. 8 (Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra feat. conductor: Yevgeny Mravinsky). Shostakovich Under Stalin's Shadow: Symphony No. 10. 2015.

The Leningrad première of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7 took place on 9 August 1942 during the Second World War, while the city of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) was under siege by Nazi German forces. Dmitri Shostakovich had intended the piece to be premièred by the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra, but because of the siege, that group was evacuated from the city, as was the composer himself. The world première of the symphony was held on 5 March in Kuybyshev with the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra

This recording was first released by Philips (Ref: 422 442-2), now unavailable; but apparently it was produced with an incorrect pitch. A Russian version released from Russian Disc (Ref: 10-917) was published at the supposed correct pitch.
This release claims that remastering work by Paul Arden-Taylor ("after advice on pitch correction by Mark Roberts") definitely fixes the famous pitch (Philips’ remastering was a semitone sharp). See images.
