After Laughter is the fifth studio album by American rock band Paramore. It was released on May 12, 2017, through Fueled by Ramen as a follow-up to Paramore, their 2013 self-titled album. The album was produced by guitarist Taylor York alongside previous collaborator, Justin Meldal-Johnsen. It is the band's first album since the return of drummer Zac Farro, who left the band with his brother Josh in 2010, and the departure of former bassist Jeremy Davis, who left the band in 2015.

After Laughter is best described as Paramore growing from a rebellious teenager to an adult. Hayley even told The New York Times. You can run on the fumes of being a teenager for as long as you want, but eventually life hits you real hard. The album was produced by previous collaborator Justin Meldal-Johnson alongside lead guitarist Taylor York. Carlos de la Garza, who worked as an audio engineer on After Laughter and Paramore said: There was a little bit of a dark side creeping in to Hayley’s psych. omething was eating at her, and she was able to use a lot of that as fuel for lyrics. After Laughter Q&A. How did the writing/recording of the album begin?
After years of merrily keeping the Paramore lights on, Hayley Williams considers her life and lets go of her grin on her latest album, a fizzy yet despondent piece of ’80s pop-rock. Hayley Williams knows how to play the part of the jolly conqueror. Even while singing of anger, betrayal, and disappointment on ever-bigger stages and in technicolor videos throughout the last 13 years, the Paramore leader has projected a pro’s poise along with a child star’s desire to please.
On "After Laughter," Paramore buries its pop-punk tendencies completely, in favor of slick, sun-kissed alternative pop songs that would sound at home next to Shape of You and Passionfruit on Top 40 radio, but really have more to do with early ‘80s new wave - and all the campiness and occasional experimentalism that comes with i. The Nashville-based band's fifth studio album dropped today (May 12) via Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen. Where do you go after your mature album ? Paramore’s last album arrived in April 2013, a self-titled effort that arrived with an inescapable narrative regarding the stormy departure of two longtime members.
Paramore are a new band-again. With their fifth line-up change in as many albums, they have lost bassist Jeremy Davis and restored founding drummer Zac Farro to their internal dynamic.
Paramore After Laughter. Rather than confront what's at hand, we avoid, ignore or retreat. Its slick sound makes much of After Laughter appear to be such a pop circumvention. Even though the majority of its 12 tracks shimmer and sparkle, After Laughter isn't an avoidance of reality; rather, the record finds Hayley Williams, Taylor York and Zac Farro engaging with despair. A grime album about fatherhood and fame is the sort of conceit that could have gone wrong in any number of ways. Props then to Miles Mitchell, the South London DJ/producer who's spent the last five years moving the music into a softer (yet no less intense) space, for finding an exquisite balance between emotional and visceral. On his sophomore album, Devout, he addresses the birth of his second son, Oscar, and his own reaction to it.
