Tebaldi was cast alongside such distinguished colleagues as Carlo Bergonzi and Mario del Monaco. Acclaimed opera maestri at the helm of these recordings include Francesco Molinari-Pradelli and Tullio Serafin. This collection of the great Puccini operas includes the stereo versions of Madama Butterfly and La Bohème and is the ideal collection of some of the world's most popular and enduring operas in acclaimed recordings that have been an integral part of Decca's legendary opera catalogue for the past fifty years. 12. La fanciulla del West (The Girl of the Golden West), opera: Act 1. Minnie, dalla mia casa son partito. 13. Laggiù nel Soledad. 14. Chi c'è per farmi i ricci?

Manon Lescaut is an opera in four acts by Giacomo Puccini, composed between 1890 and 1893. The story is based on the 1731 novel L'histoire du chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut by the Abbé Prévost. In 1884 an opera by Jules Massenet entitled Manon, and based on the same novel, was premiered and has also become popular.

Manon Lescaut (1893), La bohème (1896), Tosca (1900), Madama Butterfly (1904), La fanciulla del West (1910), Il trittico (Il tabarro, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi) (1918), Turandot (1926). La bohème by Giacomo Puccini. Premiere, date of written: 1 February 1896. The world première performance of La bohème took place in Turin on 1 February 1896 at the Teatro Regio and was conducted by the young Arturo Toscanini. The opera quickly became popular throughout Italy.

Puccini composed in Torre del Lago his main operas, among which Tosca (1900), Madama Butterfly (1904), La Fanciulla del West (1910), La Rondine (1917) and Il Trittico (1918). The Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago is the only Festival in the world fully dedicated to the composer Giacomo Puccini. It takes place every summer during the months of July and August, in the very places that inspired Maestro Puccini’s immortal melodies. The Festival saw its first light in 1930 and over the years has become an increasingly prestigious event which each year attracts tens of thousands of spectators from.

La Fanciulla del West. Renata Tebaldi, Mario del Monaco, Cornell Macneil, Franco Capuana (1958). Tebaldi is arguably the Minnie of the century, no other singer championing the role more than she ever had. Her landmark recording here sees in her the best form of her career, her voice, while not always clean in its upper registers, digging deep into the dramatic treasures of this score

The Great Opera Collection. This well nigh definitive collection of Puccini operas comes just in time for the composer's 150th anniversary and if you are not too fussy about having your libretto at first hand, then it could be the standard recommendation for years to come. Having Renata Tebaldi as the main protagonist in all seven operas is indeed a great luxury and although the recordings vary in quality, there's no denying the magnificent voice that was hers in that golden decade of the 1950's.
